Brooklyn Height Association Seeks New Executive Director

Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the development within the park, is only one issue that the Brooklyn Heights Association will continue to address

As anticipated, the Brooklyn Heights Association has launched a search for a new Executive Director following the retirement of Judy Stanton, which was announced in mid-December. This will be the association's first change in the Executive Director position in 30 years.

The job posting is here: http://www.idealist.org/view/job/NWt6GMntJHmD?utm_source=Indeed&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=Indeed

This is a high-profile position at a time of change in Brooklyn Heights and the position will have to deal with a wide range of conflicting opinions on some of the key issues. Development, especially related to Brooklyn Bridge Park and the new high-rise that will take the place of the library on Cadman Plaza are only two of the high priority items. Redevelopment of the Watchtower properties will also take center stage in the next few years.

Personally, I would like to see the association get more involved in protecting and developing the retail mix of the remaining businesses. 20 years ago, Montague Street was much more useful and interesting than it is today.

And, of course, I wonder whether they will select someone who currently lives in Brooklyn Heights and has a history with the area or whether they will bring in some new blood to shake things up.
